This 10th birthday party was a joy to shoot. Despite the scorching 36° heat and high humidity or maybe even because of it. Because it meant the freshwater rock pool plus the biggest slip'n'slide ever were even more enjoyable than they would have been anyway. So much love and DIY efforts went into every little detail, decoration, food, cakes, piñata, you name it. Plus obviously the location is amazing. Right by the beach, next to the wet lands where water buffaloes roam freely. No surprise I took waaaaaayyyyy too many photos and had a hard time culling them. Here is a selection.

road tripping through california

After finding out our kids' passports are not valid for an electronic US visa just 2 days before we had planned this trip the first time around, we were pretty bummed but just postponed everything to this May. And even though we lost some money on bookings etc and were disappointed to say the least, it worked out well - maybe even better - this way, as usual.

We started in LA where we spent a few days in Venice, drove up to Yosemite to camp, hike and just soak up nature. Next stop was Monterey and Big Sur followed by Oakland, where we had a great time catching up with friends. We ended the trip in San Francisco, with some sightseeing, bike riding and freezing. We'll be back for more one day!

hello again

Many many years ago I used to write a personal blog on an almost weekly basis.. first to document the time I lived in Australia, then our overland travels back to Europe 2 years later and finally our first few years here in Hong Kong. It made it easy to stay in touch with friends and family, saved mass newsletters and telling everyone the same (mostly banal) details about life at that point.

I stopped because life got busier and busier, second child, more work, and so on. Also we grew into living on Hong Kong, things didn't seem post worthy enough anymore. Which I always missed because isn't it great to look at your everyday life with fresh and amazed eyes? So this blog will probably be a mix of both. Personal but photography focused. Also, only in English (I have no idea how I had the time to translate every post into english and german!) and very likely a little less personal, since it's not password protected as it used to be.

So here it goes, our travels, photography related stuff, behind the scenes, outtakes from shoots and so on. I'm not a writer and I struggle with words but since this is my space, I wont re-read and construct, it will be a plain brain dump. So, enjoy!
